Fabulous Island Loop Vent
The drain side is draining though.
Island loop vent. The vent then turns down goes through the floor and along the drain pipe then turns back up to join the main stack several inches above the sink level. Island Loop Vent - Correctly installed. Ask Question Asked 2 years 4 months ago.
My new kitchen is going to have a large island with my double-bowl sink in it. A loop vent is a venting solution for a sink fixture P-trap that requires the vent pipe to run under the floor such as a kitchen island sink. The loop vent is constructed by two 90 degree 2 elbows PVC instead of a 45 degree - 90 degree - 45 degree combination.
So the vent side of the loop isnt draining. You must tie the bottom of the vent loop directly into the drain under the floor to allow for any condensate to drain out otherwise this pipe could fill up with water and block. Above the intersection with the sink the vent pipe simply acts as a vent for both fixtures and so can be smaller 1 5 in diameter.
This shouldnt be possible if the loop was done right. The vent must run through the roof or connect to other vent piping above the flood-level rim of the fixtures served the cleanout should be installed above the spill level of the fixture. This handy gadget is a one-way valve that allows air to enter the drain line when the sink is drained while preventing sewer.
The common island loop pictured here could become less popular now that the combination waste and vent option is legal again. The island sink drain upstream of the returned vent shall serve no other fixtures. Active 2 years 3 months ago.
