A hacksaw makes quick work of the pipe. Locate the section of your vent above your bathroom or kitchen. If its safe to climb up to your roof remove the debris covering the vent.

Remove your check vent set a pail underneath the pipe and then run water into your drain again. It is also possible to perform a pressure test of the vent piping system or the drain piping system - a procedure which will diagnose for sure whether or not the plumbing vent system is leaking sewer gas. Then check the affected drains to see if theyre now working great.
